Description

Excellent vintage bird's eye view of the so-called "Apache Trail of Arizona" running between Phoenix and the Theodore Roosevelt Dam and Lake. The map was issued for the Southern Pacific Lines by The Matthews Northrup Works.

The view lists Tempe, Chandler, and Mesa, as well as Phoenix. It also labels the Superstition Mountains, Weaver's Needle, Four Peaks, Geronimo Mountain, Sierra Anchas, and Miami and Globe, Arizona.

There is a partial signature of the artist of the view seeming to read "H.H. Corell".

The Southern Pacific produced wonderful graphic arts for the promotion of the line, with some contemporary posters to this view worth thousands of dollars today.

The view is surprisingly rare, this being the first example we have seen.
