Description

Interesting W. & A.K. Johnston map of the world intended to illustrate the Humboldt's observation of global isothermal lines as developed by Berghaus.

On of the most interesting aspects of the map is its treatment of Antarctica, which was only just coming into view after the explorations of Bellingshausen and Wilkes, among others.

An attractive map related to climate and no doubt important for the interpretation of climate change.
