Description

Scarce map of the campus of the University of Kansas, designed by Victor & Patti Hogg.

The map provides a marvelous whimsical look at the Campus in Lawrenceville.  In the north, Memorial Stadium, with its distinct open southern end, is shown, with Oread Hall to the west, which was built in 1946 and lasted until the 1970s.

In the center of the map, the Campanile, Jayhawk Drive, Watson Library and Fraser Hall are shown, as are Green Hall (KU Law School), Dyche Museum (with a dinosaur tail), and other buildings shown.

Potter Lake shows a pair of lovers, with an artist atop Strong Hall, a Doctor atop Snow Hall, and music coming from Hoch Auditorium (prior to the lightening strike of 1991, which resulted in its reconstruction and the creation of Budig Hall).

Victor Hogg would go on to a career as an illustrator, including "Fishes in Kansas," published by the U of Kansas Natural History Museum.
