Description

A Chinese-language map of Bangkok showing the major neighborhoods and streets. Thonburi is on the right bank of the Cha Phraya, and is presently one of the areas of primary historical interest in the city. Thonburi was the acting capital during the Thonburi Kingdom period and is still a major cultural center in the city. While Bangkok still covers a large area in this map, many of the present-day neighborhoods are shown as underdeveloped and comprising only the occasional village including the neighborhoods of Bang Kho Laem and Bang Phong Phang. This suggests the map predates the rapid expansion and industrialization the city underwent during the implementation of the Litchfield Plan in the 1960s.

The text is in English and Chinese. Labels all the major features that may be of interest to tourists or expats, such as temples or hospitals. Likely a map from a period in the city's history before it became such a popular tourist destination.
