Description

The Lindgren Brothers 1948 Pictorial Map of Jackson Hole Wyoming

"Made on Purpose by Jolly Lindgren," this comic pictorial map is full of puns and comic vignettes related to Jackson Hole, Grand Tetons and environs.

The map shows routes and landmarks captioned with good-natured humor.

The first Jolly Lindgren map of Jackson Hole was made in 1935, with a second map was issued in 1936, which can be quickly distinguished by its red border

In 1947, an  entirely new map was issued, extending slightly further north and south.  While a few of the jokes and vignettes are the same, this is an entirely different map.  The 1948 map is yet completely a new map.

The Lindgren Brothers issued a number of other silly whimsical maps of national parks and other parts of the West.
