Description

Entertaining pictorial map of Seattle, published by "the Cartooning Weatherman", Bob Hale.

The map is filled with humorous vignettes illustrating Seattle.  Captioned "Seattle As seen through the eyes of a noted northwest cartoonist and genius: Bob Hale . . .who, as a mapmaker, he should be painting roses on turtle's backs!"

Oriented with east at the top, the map is filled with local humor and ephemera,

Bob Hale was Seattle's first TV Weatherman, first appearing on KING TV in September 1951.  Previously an artist and sign painter, Hale sketched weather vignettes for Seattle News, at a time when KING TV was the only TV station west of Minneapolis and north of Los Angeles, with a prospective viewership of about 2,000 households.  Hale remained on KING TV for 12 years, before relocating to San Diego for a two year hiatus, before returning to Seattle in 1964.
