Description

Interesting Pro-Manchoukuo, Pro-Japanese Persuasive Map Issued for the Century of Progress International Exposition at Chicago in 1933.

Persuasive map issued by the Japanese puppet government railway company, the South Manchuria Railway Company, intended to show the improvements to Manchuria that had been undertaken since the Japanese takeover.

At the top of the map are three graphs showing dramatic growth of the economy and population. "Exports From and Imports Into Manchuria", "Staple Products Exported From Manchuria", "Population of Manchuria".

Manchukuo was a puppet state of the Empire of Japan in Northeast China and Inner Mongolia from 1932 until 1945. It was founded as a republic, but in 1934 it became a constitutional monarchy. It had limited international recognition and was under the de facto control of Japan.
