Description

Rare separately published plan of Geneva, published in Geneva by C.B. Glot.

The plan shows the fortified walls of the old city, divided by the Rhone River, with the Island Quarter cantilevered over the river and various fortifications on the river on either side, intended to interdict attacks by water.

In the top and bottom left corners, early images of the town (Ancient Geneva and Geneva in 1713 are shown).

At the bottom right, a key locates 57 points of interest within the plan.

This is apparently the second state of the map, which was first issued in 1777.
