Description

Illustrated Prospectus for a Silver City, Utah Mining Venture

Rare prospectus and map describing an investment in the Silver Spar Mining and Milling Company.

The views illustrated provide a fine visual image of the mining industry in the region, illustrating the location of mining shafts, tunnels, mining debris and the company's mill at Mammoth Mountain.

Illustrated on the map are the company's mining interests on Mammoth Mountain, Silver Spar and along the Black Jack Trail, with a fourth panel illustrating the locations of the claims.

Silver Spar was a mining venture mining the Tintic District of Juab County, Utah, just north of Silver City, Utah and about 75 miles south of Salt Lake City.

The company's mine's consisted of 7 claims, of which 5 were patented at the time of the issuance of the Prospectus.

Silver Spar Mining and Milling Company

The Silver Spar apparently operated for at least 5 years, based upon records from contemporary journals, but we found precious little about its operational history.

Rarity

The prospectus and map are apparently very rare.

We locate no other examples of this prospectus and map, and no other printed objects bearing the company name in OCLC or otherwise.
