Description

Rare pictorial map representing the life of Abraham Lincoln.

Compiled by historian John Speed and illustrated by Karl Smith, the map offers a pictorial history of the life of the 16th President of the United States.

The earliest entries date to 1782, when Capt. Abraham Lincoln (father) and his family travelled to Kentucky through the Cumberland Gap in 1782.

The map thereafter tracks Lincoln's birth, education, early career and political high spots on a map centered on the Ohio River.

The map is scarce on the market. We have located only a few institutional examples.
