Scarce map of Hawaii, published in the Journal of the Royal Geographical Society, which accompanied a paper submitted the Society by Thomas Nettleship Staley, the Bishop of Honolulu.

Thomas Nettleship Staley was appointed Bishop of Honolulu by John Bird Sumner, the Archbishop of Canterbury on December 15, 1861, at the suggestion of Samuel Wilberforce and Queen Victoria, the church's first bishop of the Kingdom of Hawaii. He and his wife arrived in Honolulu in October 1862, a few weeks after the death of Albert, Prince of Hawaii, the only son of King Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma Kaleleon?lani Na?ea.
