Description

Early promotional tract map and broadsheet, promoting the Wilshire Heights section of Beverly Hills.

The tract map section credits Reaburn & Bowen (Engineers) and Cline-Smith-English Corporation and provides a layout of the streets and lots over countour lines, a relatively unique presentation for a promotional tract map of the period. The map is centered on Rodeo Drive, with Pico Blvd at the south and Country Club Drive (Olympic Blvd) at the north, Roxbury Drive at the west and Beverly Drive to the east. The map shows the area immediately north of the Hillcrest Country Club.

On the verso, the promotional tract boasts proximity to country clubs and the new Fox Studios (not yet built) and the booming Los Angeles economy, along with unobstructed views.

OCLC locates 1 copy (Huntington Library), although curiously the catalog entry mentions Frank Meline Company, the realtor who promoted the development, although we were not able to find any reference to Frank Meline Company on the map, suggesting that the Huntington copy may be a variant.
