Description
Important early plan of Mantua by Matteo Florimi.
The exceptional detail of Florimi's work is in evidence. The work draws from the 1575 view of Braun & Hogenberg, but on a larger scale.
Matteo Florimi, active in Siena from 1580 to 1612, was one of the most active Italian engravers and publishers of town views during the period. Because his views were separately published, they are all now quite rare on the market.
