Description

Marvelous early map of the Northeastern part of North America, extending from Canada and Virginia to the Great Lakes.

The map is particularly fascinating for its evoloved depcition of the lakes, falling betwen De "L"isle and Bellin. The map appeared in Le Beau's L'Avantures du Sr. C. Le Beau., published in Amesterdam . This map (McCorkle #738.1) shows the east from Newfoundland to Georgia and the Great Lakes. Pennsylvania is not named, nor is much else. The map appears in Avantures du Sr. C. Le Beau, and a dotted line shows his travels. German versions of this map appeared in 1752.

The map is scarce on the market. We were only able to locate 3 appearances in dealer catalogues and auctions in the past 25 years.
