Description

Decorative large format map of the state map of Minnesota, divided into counties and townships.

One of the best large format maps of the period, embellished with a birdseye view of a train winding its way along the river, surmounted by a decorative title and American Eagle. Includes a table of distances for the railroad and steamship lines within the state. Shows county boundaries as of 1869 and U.S. land offices.

The map is scarce. OCLC lists only 3 examples of the 1870 edition (Yale, Minnesota Historical Society and University of Chicago).

Condition Description
Flattened and archivally backed, to support old folds. Some minor soiling and loss at fold intersections, but generally a nice example.
