Description

Valerio Spada's map of Perugia is believed to be based upon Egnazio Danti's map of Perugia, A copy of the original resides in the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana in Rome, which was prepared ca 1580. The Danti map is the acknowledged source of Ortelius' map of Perugia.

Valerio Spada (1613-1688) is perhaps best known as a draftsman, artist and calligrapher. His view of Florence from San Francesco a Monte is one of the rarest and most sought after of all views of Florence.
