German and French Colonies in Texas
Scarce French map of Texas and the Transmississippi West, immediately after the Gadsden Purchase.
Unusual California configuration and curious Utah Territory. Washington and Oregon Territory run to the Rocky Mountains. Nebraska Territory extends to the Rockies and Canada. Very unusual and ephemeral Kansas Territory configuration.
Texas is oddly configured and shows the German and French Colonies, separately colored and named.New Mexico is still shown in its Mexican Province configuration.
This is one of the first maps to show a southern route from Santa Fe to the Pueblo de Los Angeles, along with the more familiar Oregon Trail, via South Pass.
Excellent detail throughout, including Indian tribes, forts, railroads and other early interesting features.
