Dedicated To George Anson

Striking map of the area around the Cork Harbor, with elaborate dedication to the Office of the Lord High Admiral of Great Britain, engraved by J. Mynde and sold by Mount & Page.

This chart offers an exceptionally well-preserved view of Cork Harbor, detailing landmarks such as the Old Head, Little Island, Poor Head, Ringaskiddy, and the natural harbour of Cork, along with Crosshaven, Haulbowline, Spike Island, Cloyne, and others.

An inset, titled “A Continuation of Corke Harbour from a smaller Scale,” provides an expanded view of Cork City and its environs, including places like Ballintemple, Blackrock, Glancalain, Doundaniel, Douglas, and Ronan’s Court, highlighting the area's significance and detailing historical notes such as the construction achievements by Sir John Brodrick in Midleton and the strategic importance of the region for maritime activities.

The map also encompasses additional areas of interest, such as Monks Castle, Monks Creek, and the locale once known as Cove Town, now known as Cobh, illustrating the extended reach of Cork’s natural harbour to Ballycotton and showcasing Rostellan, the residence of William McWilliam O’Brien, 4th Earl of Inchiquin.

Dedicated to notable figures such as George Lord Anson and Edward Boscarven among others, this chart reflects the naval and maritime heritage of Great Britain.
