Description

This aquatint and etching, titled Taglio della Terra, originates from the Atlante di Geografia Universale by F. C. Marmocchi, published in Florence in 1838 by Vincenzo Batelli e Figli. The work, offers a cross-sectional view of the Earth, illustrating its interior with concentric circles and depicting atmospheric variations through tone. Erupting volcanoes add a dynamic element to the representation, indicating geological activity.

Condition Description

Aquatint with etching on 19th-century wove paper. Some foxing, as illustrated.
