Description

Nice example of this marvelous map of Texas, Upper California, Mexico and the Western United States, published by Conrad Malte-Brun.

The map incorporates the information from Humboldt, Pike, and Lewis & Clark. The map shows the two mythical Salt Lakes in the Utah area (Timpanogos and Lac Sale).

The Province of Texas is named and a number of California missions are shown.   

One interesting feature is the coloration of Yucatan Anglois (Belize) and the Mosquito Coast, both shown as English possessions.

Malte-Brun's maps are often overlooked, despite his tireless efforts to provide up-to-date cartographic information.
