Description

Fantastic and quite rare Latin-language world atlas, published in Amsterdam by Johannis Bunonis in 1683. Though the work is based on Cluver, who is often associated with historical cartography, the present atlas includes a substantial complement of modern maps, including one of the Americas that takes in the Pacific as well.

The atlas includes classical and modern world maps, a map of Arabia, one of Cyprus, and a variety of other rare images with charming decorative elements.

Ptolemy's South Asia, taking in both India and Southeast Asia, presents as one map regions that are almost always separated in Ptolemaic cartography.
