Description

An interesting bound volume with four scarce offprints relating to John Cabot. This volume is from the library from noted Maine politician and collector James Phinney Baxter (1831-1921), for whom the Baxter Society is named. Baxter served as mayor of Portland between 1893 and 1905.

Octavo. Late 19th-century half calf and marbled boards. Spine ends chipped. Internally clean. Very good. Pictorial bookplate of James Phinney Baxter, the namesake of Maine's prestigious bibliophilic club, the Baxter Society. Four items bound in one: 7 pages; [4] pages; 10 pages; pp. [2], 37-41.
