Description

The Imperial Map of the United States

The map of North America shows Texas and California each colored separately from Mexico, but clearly not yet incorporated into the United States.

The separate map of the U.S. is titled: Imperial Map of the United States. Although this map is dated 1849, none of the territory gained from Mexico after the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo is shown.

The maps were also available as individually published maps, with the price of 6D. in outline color or 9D. in full color.  The use of "D" for pence comes from the Latin "Denarius," a Roman coin that was the precursor to these denominations.
