Saenredam was a Dutch Mannerist painter, mapmaker and engraver, who is most known for his allegorocial image created from the bible and classical mythology.
His first work was a map of Holland for Gucciardini's description of the Low Countries in 1589. At about the same time, he became a student of Hendrick Goltzius in Haarlem.
