Rare map of Asia by Nicolaus Blankaart, a Professor of Leiden who produced 3 maps (Africa, Asia and Europe) for Jansson in 165. The map is deditacted to D. Gerardo Schaep. The map extends from the Mediterranean and Black Seas in the West, to Scythia and China in the Northeast, south to Borneo, Java and Sumatra and including the Indian Ocean and African Coast to Ethopia. A group of 12 medalions show the ancient rulers and other regional symbols. Excellent detail throught the map, espeically in Central Asia, India an Southeast Asia. A striking example of this scarce map.
