A Caricature of the Hundred Days Offensive
Fascinating series of maps showing a serio-comic set of map images, with a caricature of a German and French solider superimposed on each image.
The map shows the a progression between September 1 and October 26, wherein the French soldier, beginning from a position of weakness, fights back and subdoes his German adversary.
The Hundred Days Offensive, spanning from August 8 to November 11, 1918, marked the conclusive series of Allied offensives that effectively ended the First World War. Initiated with the Battle of Amiens on the Western Front from August 8 to 12, the offensive turned the tide against the Imperial German Army, reversing its earlier advances made during the German Spring Offensive.
