Description

Extremely rare mid 17th Century map of the region bounded by the Gulf of Venice, Abruzzi, Bavaria, Austria, Hungary, Southern Poland, Transylvania, Serbia and Albania Includes numerous ships in the Guf and a compass rose. The map is centered on the course of the Danube. Berey was active in Paris in the Mid-17th Century and is known to have reissued some of Hondius most famous decorative maps. This map however is apparently an original work, which was apparently bound into a large composite atlas The map includes marvelous detail and engraving quality throughout and is printed on heavy paper. An expertly repaired fold split extends several inches into the p printed surface, but does not detract from the map's appearance. An excellent opportunity to acquire an interesting map by a rare 17th Century cartographer.
