San Juan, Texas -- "The Friendly City"

Fabulous pictorial lettersheet map of South Texas and the contiguous part of of Mexico, centered on the Rio Grande Valley.

The map highlights a green section of the lower Rio Grande within Starr, Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy Counties noting a Metropolitan area of 250,000.

The remainder of the map is embellished with caricatures of local culture, recreation, markets and tourist activities.

On the verso is a letter from Dr. S.S. Billue to Mr. C.A. Rucera of Friend, Nebraska, dated October 19, 1948, advising him that  the San Juan Tourist Court (Hotel) has been torn down and rebuilt, with rooms at $3.00 per night and apartments at $4.00.
