Promoting The Sale of Pictorial Maps

Interesting piece of pictorial mapmaking history, being an uncut set of 3 promotional sheets produced for Richard E. Bishop's highly regarding Map of the Surface-Feeding Ducks, Swans, and Geese of North America

Each of the 3 uncut shets shows a reduced version of the completed map, as well as an inset for the description of the Common Mallard, showing the male, female, and the specie's North American range. It also includes a description of the map and the surp price for cloth lacquered ($15.00) and mounted ($17.50) examples.

Richard E. Bishop was an American illustrator and visual artist focusing on depictions of ducks and geese. Bishop would rise to fame when he won the national duck stamp competition in 1936, the third year of the competition. In 1937, he produced a map similar to the Surface-Feeding Ducks entitled Map of the Diving Ducks, Eiders, and Mergansers of North America.
