Description

Fine and beautiful map of the Surface Feeding Ducks, Swans and Geese of North America showing twenty-two different types of birds and the regions they inhabit.

The image centers on a large, general map of North America, showing the principal migration routes. Around the edges of this map are depicted the various ducs, swans and geese, with the regions they inhabit shown in small inset maps.

Richard E. Bishop was an American illustrator and visual artist focusing on depictions of ducks and geese. This is the first of his Duck maps.  He won the national duck stamp competition in 1936, the third year of the competition.  In 1937, he produced a similar map of Diving Ducks, Eiders, and Mergansers.
