Description

Interesting vintage map of the city of Tanger, Morocco.

The map shows the layout of the city, including streets, buildings, and other points of interest. There is an inset titled "Casco de la Doblacion Antigua Ville Ancienne," which provides a detailed view of the old town, or "ville ancienne," of Tanger.

The legend has two titles: "Leyenda" and "Legende." These titles indicate that the legend is presented in two languages: Spanish and French. "Leyenda" is Spanish for "legend," and "Legende" is French for "legend." The inclusion of both languages in the legend suggests that the map was intended for a multilingual audience, with speakers of both Spanish and French able to understand the key to the map's symbols and features.

The map was for sale by the International Administration, the organization that administered the international zone centered on the city of Tangier. This international zone, which existed from 1924 until 1956, was a unique territory with a special legal and political status. It was reintegrated into independent Morocco in 1956, but retained its special status until April 1960.

This is the second edition of the map, which was published in June 1935. It was printed in Valencia, Spain.
