Vivid Pictographic "Picture Maps" of Mexico

A delightful and beautifuly printed 1939 tourist guidebook for Mexico, illustrated with brightly colored "pictorial maps" of various regions in Mexico. The printing was by Lito. F. Sanchez H. y Cia. One of these pictorial maps is a double-page map of Mexico, elegantly illustrated with "Mexican type costumes" or traditional dress of various regions in Mexico.

This work was published by Publicaciones Fischgrund, who also sold Diego Rivera prints, pictorial maps, post cards and the like, all out of their Mexico City shop at No. 6 Avenida Madero. One of the full-page pictorial ads herein reminds visitors that they could order their Fischgrund pictorial map of the Republic by mail order.

The ads at the back of the book are also beautifully designed and illustrated. Of special note is the full page pictorial ad for Hugo Brehme's photographic establishment on Avenida Madera No. 8 in Mexico City. Brehme's sensitive photographs of Mexican people and scenery are highly praised by photographic historians.
