Description

Unusual and interesting Arabic-language plan of the Napoleonic Wars.

Three large insets show major theaters of the war, stretching from the French border to modern-day Poland. An additional six insets show battle plans for some of the more important battles of the war. These battles were studied by European military officers from all nations as some of the most foremost examples of tactical brilliance until the onset of the First World War. Analyses and depictions of these battles were often published to serve this instruction.

In the bottom center of the map is the plan of the Battle of Waterloo, showing the French and Allied armies engaging just south of the cross-roads of Mont-Saint-Jean.

The map is unusual in that it dates the battles to their Gregorian calendar years, rather than their Hijri calendar years. Waterloo is dated ١٨١٥, or 1815. All the battles shown date between 1807 and 1815, although the one in the upper left is undated.
