Map of historical landmarks, both public and private, in Orange County, issued by the county's Planning Department. The bulletin propounds recognizing the history of the county in the wake of two decades of rapid development.
Richard Nixon's birthplace in Yorba Linda is listed with an opening date of 1971. Illustrated on the verso are three sites already destroyed by urbanization, with photos of what they became— a pond became a freeway, the Yorba Hacienda, an empty tract, and the Irvine Mansion, a parking lot. An image of the Stanton House is provided in a section of landmarks still standing, although this house at 101 East Ocean Boulevard (or Ocean Avenue) has since been destroyed.
This mailer was sent to Nellie Segerstrom, widow of the prominent Orange County landowner Anton Henry Segerstrom and mother of Henry Thomas Segerstrom, the real estate developer. The family donated the Costa Mesa Adobe, included as a historical place here, to Costa Mesa in 1963.
