Description
Rare Italian map of North America, published in Turin by Andrea Cassella.
As with similar Italian maps from this period, some of the cartographic features are 10 to 20 years of out date, which makes the maps all the more interesting. Examples include:
- Republic of Texas named 12 years after Texas became part of the US.
- Masive Oregon Territory shown 4 years after the creation of Washington Territory
- Nueva California appears 8 years after annexation by the US
The map was annotated by an early owner to note Salt Lake (Salada) and the Sierra Nevada mountains.
