Description

Rare guide map to Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, showing fifty-four places of interest, including the Royal Palace.

The map is centered on the central part of the city, with the Shahre Naow and Karte-Ye-Sakhi districts both shown. Ministries, embassies, public buildings, and more are shown.

Kabul in the 1960s was part of a period of relative peace in its long, conflicted history. the premiership of Mohammad Daoud Khan in the 1950s had led to increased foreign investment, but, also fatefully, the growing interest of the Soviets.

This is likely a British-issued map as the British embassy is the first listed, and the descriptions of the ministries also has a British-language etymology applied to the ministries.
