Description

Connecting Texas to the West.

Rare large-format map of the United States, focusing on the Denver, Texas, and Fort Worth Railroad and its connections.

The map highlights the routes of the railroads, as they start in Memphis, Vicksburg, and New Orleans, before making their way through to Fort Worth, Houston, and Galveston. Westwards, they reach Portland, San Francisco, southern California, and Denver.

Founded as the Fort Worth and Denver Railway, the railroad was chartered in 1873. Construction didn't begin until 1881 due to financial troubles. The company would be acquired in 1899 by the Colorado and Southern Railway.
