With a Pictorial "Cartograph" by Ruth Taylor White
This book has a whimsical color printed pictorial map of the Grand Canyon Country, which forms the front and rear endpapers. Ruth Taylor White produced some of the best pictorial maps, including Our USA: A Gay Geography (1935), Wine Map of California (1945), as well as several of the Hawaiian Islands for the Hawaiian Tourist Board. Her cartoon-style maps sparked interest and influenced the work of other graphic artists of the time.
The full title of the "cartograph" is:
A Cartograph of the Grand Canyon Country on which is pictured whimsically and fancifully some things that Dudes expect to see and then, again, some other things they don't, said cartograph having been penned by Ruth Taylor White.
Revised 1930 edition of the book, which was first published in 1929. The plates are after photographs by El Tovar Studio, Willard S. Wood, and Homer S. Jones.
While not a rare book, it is getting difficult to find examples in such nice condition, free of ownership or library markings.
