Early American Survey of California After The Gold Rush

Early survey undertaken by George Horatio Derby, completed shortly after the discovery of gold in California.

The Survey extends from north of Santa Barbara to Monterey Bay and east to the Sierras.  The central point is the "Tule" and "Tache" Lake, one of the best early maps to show the grand extent of the Lake in the early part of the 19th Century.

The map also shows, the ancient lake, road to Los Angeles, Walker's Pass, San Luis Obispo and the rivers flowing west from the Sierras.

The city of Fresno is called Warsaw.
