Nice hand-colored lithographed view of "Cottage Row" in Menlo Park, California.

The lithograph was created in 1878 by Britton & Rey for Moore & De Pue's Illustrated History of San Mateo County. The view shows a series of cottages in the midground, a horse-drawn carriage in the foreground, and a church in the background. The cottages are arranged in a row and constitute T.J. Smith's Cottage Row, mentioned in the title. The church in the background adds a sense of history and community to the image.

Moore & De Pue's Official Map of the County of San Mateo California, executed in 1878, is one of the best 19th-century maps of what is now a large part of Silicon Valley. The lithograph, produced by the San Francisco-based firm Britton & Rey, was incorporated in Moore & De Pue's Illustrated History of San Mateo County, and provides a comprehensive visual record of San Mateo County's geographical and infrastructural landscape during this era.
