Highly detailed and attractive view of the Colosseum, in Rome, published by Francois Halma at the start of the 18th century.

The upper image shows the Colosseum seen from the west, with Rome in the background. Around this magnificent building, people conduct trade, farm, and pursue other activities.

Below the map are two further views of Rome. The lower right view shows Basilica at the Vatican, while the lower left view shows a church in the city.

The upper image is based on a drawing by Lievin Cruyl made during his stay in the city between 1664 and 1676. The lower images are based on Francois Halma's works.
