This is a detailed map of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, by J.C. Thompson, revised from the U.S. Geological Survey in 1892.
The map includes intricate details of the geography, towns, roads, and other significant landmarks of Rhode Island. An inset map of Block Island in Newport County is also featured, showing additional details such as lighthouses, harbors, and various points of interest.
The map is bordered by a list of cities and towns, providing a comprehensive overview of the state's layout.
The decorative title cartouche includes the state seal.
This map is based on an earlier iteration published by S.D. Tilden in 1880.

Hand-colored lithographed folding map on 19th-century wove paper. Backed on old linen. Covers present but detached. Some wear and toning, as illustrated. Early manuscript key on the left edge.
