Description

Original vintage propaganda poster showing the progress of the Second World War in December 1944.

The poster includes three maps, one showing the Japanese Homeland with an inset of Tokyo and the Greater Pacific. This was shortly before Allied bombing changed to using predominantly incendiary bombs, which was one of the final phases of the war in the Pacific. The second map shows the border of western Germany, with the locations of the current Allied advancements shown. A third map shows Allied advances in Burma.

The verso of the map advertises the safety and efficacy of the US medical corps, with the statistic that "97 out of every 100 wounded soldiers reaching Army hospitals recover."

The Newsmap propaganda series was published as a weekly update for personnel on the state of the war, always with a positive, pro-Ally spin.
