Description
One of the Finest Images of California's State Bird.
Delightful and beautifully-rendered 19th-century hand-colored lithograph of a family of California Quail.
This print shows a paired male and female quail with a number three-day-old of chicks. They are surrounded by classic California vegetation.
This family of quail was brought from San Francisco to France in 1852 and evidently succeeded in settling in their new home. This view was drawn and lithographed in Paris in 1853.
