Last year we shipped over 4,500 antique maps to more than 50 countries. Maps are shipped Monday through Friday year-round. If an order is received before 2 PM PST, we will ship the order that day. If an order is received after that time, we will ship the next day. We ship maps either flat in custom packages or in specially ordered thick tubes. Description

The Only Known Example

Rare political campaign broadside, promoting the candidacy of General John W. Geary for Governor of Pennsylvania.

Geary successfully ran for Pennsylvania governor against Hiester Clymer (1827-1884), who ran on a white supremacist platform. Clymer's supporters produced some of the most virulently graphic racist posters and pamphlets of the decade.

John White Geary (1819 – 1873) was an American lawyer, politician, Freemason, and a Union general in the American Civil War. Geary served as the final alcalde of San Francisco (1849-1850), first mayor of San Francisco (1850-1851), 3rd governor of the Kansas Territory (1856-57), and the 16th governor of Pennsylvania (1867-1873).

Geary was also appointed Territorial Governor of Utah by President Franklin Pierce, but declined the position.

Rarity

This appears to be the only surviving example.

Her hair is styled in curls, and she wears earrings and a brooch. The background includes detailed cross-hatching to give depth to the figure.
