Description

An interesting regional map, showing the counties of Tyrol and Bregenz and the Duchies of Carniolia, Carinthia, Stiria and Austria, all Habsburgian estates of the Holy Roman Empire. Salzburg is in Bavaria and Tyrol, which includes the Bishopric of Trent (Trentino), extends south to Lake Garda, where it borders the Venetian State.

Shows towns, rivers, mountains, lakes, etc. Striking original wash colors. Robert Wilkinson was active in London as a cartographic publisher from 1785 to 1825. He produced a number of nice works, including his General Atlas of the World and a re-issuance of Bowen & Kitchin's English Atlas, along with excellent large-format separate maps.
