Description

Nice original antique map of the Middle East, showing a number of decorative elements throughout. Published in Munich by a devout Jesuit Catholic, this worshipful map was published around 1700.

The map shows a number of cities including Jerusalem, Medina, Cairo, and Elcatif, but what is of most interest are the animals shown on the map. These include lions, camels, and sea monsters. "Paradise" is shown along the Euphrates.

Along the sides of the map are decorative elements showing the temptation and fall. The map includes a title cartouche and a depiction of the tropics.

Condition Description
Minor ink run near lower left plate mark, otherwise a stellar example.
