Decorative and highly detailed map of the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America and the Southeastern United States, from Garnier's rare and highly sought after Atlas Spheroidial…, published in Paris in 1860.

The map has an interesting treatment of the area on either side of the Gila River. The region acquired from Mexico by the Gadsden Purchase (1854) is called Pimeria Alta, with a number of Indian Tribes, Mountains and Ruins located, and the prior Guadalupe-Hidalgo Treaty line (1848) also shown.

Garnier's maps are prized for their fine colors and precise details.

This map includes an inset of Central America and Panama.
