Description
Finely engraved view of Jerusalem.
The view illustrates Jerusalem as it is described in the Second Book of Kings, Chaper 25:1 in the Old Testament: "And it came to pass in the ninth year of his kingdom, on the tenth day of the tenth month Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came with all his might against Jerusalem, and they encamped against it and built bastions around it".
The view appeared in Byvoegzel tot het algemeen groot Naamen Woord-Boek van den ganschen H. Bybel by Augustin Calmet, as translated and enlarged for a Dutch Language edition by y Jakob van Ostade and Arnoldus Henricus Wetserhovius.
