Description

Unrecorded Laura Whitlock Map of Los Angeles. With Interesting Variants on the Pacific Electric Railway System.

Fantastic, rare piece of Los Angeles city mapping, published by one of the foremost female cartographers of Southern California and issued by the German American Trust and Savings Bank.

The primary map is an early 1913 depiction of the Los Angeles public transportation system. A number of interesting features are shown, including a rail terminal at the end of the Santa Monica Pier and rail lines extending to Pomona, Santa Ana, and Newport.

The verso of the map is a detailed city map of Los Angeles, with an extensive index. The map was issued by the German American Trust and Savings Bank, a bank founded in 1910 that had its headquarters on the corner of Spring and Fourth Streets in downtown LA.
